Set in the heart of Cornwall’s only city, Truro, The Wig & Pen is a pub with a focus on great drinks, delicious food and friendly service.

The grade-two listed pub has been at the centre of the city for nearly 200 years, and has a long history, first as two separate villas, before becoming one. Once known as The Star Inn, the pub was then renamed in the 20th century to reflect its location near the county courthouse.

Serving a range of beers and ales from St Austell Brewery, The Wig and Pen reflects Cornish produce throughout with a bar and dining menu designed to reflect the very best the county has to offer. Their menu changes with the seasons and offers a range of bar snacks and pub classics as well as smaller and larger plates to satisfy all tastes from lunch through to dinner.

Expect a fresh and modern take on traditional British food with a few surprises along the way.

Visit their newly-refurbished bar area or on our outside seating and enjoy an in-house cocktail, hand-selected wine or local ale whilst watching the world go by.

Steak Night

Enjoy weekly steak nights every Thursday at The Wig and Pen between 5pm and 9pm. Choose your preferred cut and sides, and choose whether to add a sauce, all served with a black garlic & roasted shallot puree, smoked soy & beef dripping portobello mushroom, sun-dried tomato & Judge’s Gavel ale-battered onion rings. A steak for one will also be served with a complimentary glass of house red wine, and steaks for two will be served with a complimentary carafe of house red wine. Please note that if you would like to order a sharing Cote de Boeuf, this will need to be pre-ordered by 5pm on the Wednesday evening before the steak night.
